This guitar started life as a stock spec 1960 Harmony H-162 guitar, the original guitars have an underwhelming sound with heavy ladder bracing, non adjustable necks, but this one has been given a full conversion. The Conversion: The original heavy ladder bracing has been replaced with a tapered Martin style X-bracing giving the guitar a very clear and punchy sound. Original bridge replaced with a new rosewood saddle with fixed bone saddle. Neck reset giving the guitar a very nice playing action and nice tall saddle, pulling more sound out of the aged spruce top. The necks steel reinforcement bar replaced with an adjustable truss rod, adjustable from the soundhole. The result of this conversion work is an incredible sounding 000 sized guitar, american made, with all solid woods, a guitar that could rival a Martin 000-18 for a fraction of the price. Specs: Top: Solid Sitka Spruce Back & Sides: Solid Mahogany Bracing: Tapered Martin Style Spruce X-Bracing Neck: Poplar Scale Length: 25" Fretboard: Brazilian Rosewood Bridge: Indian Rosewood Truss rod: 2 way adjustable Truss rod Tuners: Original open gear tuners This truly is an incredible sounding guitar, very clear, very balanced sound. www.facebook.com/Kirtley-Guitars-295303447795522/Alex, as you know I have always been very supportive of your activities. You are without question a talented guitar repairer and builder, and are also innovative with your ideas. However, I am beginning to question whether or not you should be advertising your work on here, because from what I can see you are now a professional and as you know, I have strict rules about commercial adverts on here. I recently recommended you to my friend, Dave King, as he is looking for an apprentice/assistant. If you are interested in pursuing that possibility, let me know and I will put you in touch. I will not delete this thread, but I do think that as "Kirtley Guitars" you cannot advertise your work on here. I do hope you stay a member and contributor as you are a valued member of our community. Thanks and best wishes, Shine On Michael

Cheers Michael
It's a bit of a side thing still, and honestly I never thought of this as commercial advertising, just moving on a guitar I'd had my way with as a revamped harmony, rather than as one of mine, but I'll bear it in mind in future, it's quite flattering to be considered an actual company though!
I appreciate the Dave King recommendation too!, it certainly sounds like a great opportunity, and he seems to make some excellent instruments though my girlfriend and I are not really in a position to be able to move so far south at this point in time, maybe when we have a bit of money behind us
Cheers
Alex

As long as it is still a "side thing" it's fine, but I really thought I had to mention it.
Regarding Dave King - maybe a part time thing could work?
