Hi Fredcapo, If you ever want to change the Schireson cone for something else, I'll buy the Schireson cone from you.

Hello everyone. I am just in the process of purchasing a guitar that has the Schireson cone system I do not yet have the guitar but from the pictures I have it looks like a Kay body with f holes. The cover plate is stamped National Dobro Corp. There is a number on the body 36121219.

Hi there !
Unusual !
I don't think I've seen that style of coverplate before BUT I don't have the Bible According to Mark Makin, to refer to, as I'm at work.
If that coverplate style hasn't yet got a name, I'm gonna call it the "Pinneaple-Ring Segments" coverplate, unless anyone has any objections !!!
Will certainly be interested to see how it looks inside too

I would sure like to pinpoint why that cover plate is on a Schireson cone.
I have looked for hours trying to find a picture of one like it.It is early because of the hole positions at the hour.
I spoke with Jason at National and he sent me to Marc. I was Marc that suggested it was a Schireson. But he did not attempt to explain the origin of the cover plate.
I love a good mystery.
I am going with the story that this was on John's workbench at some point after the the lawsuit.😎🤯🔥🎸

Hi Mark,
Were those pages in your book ?
How about "Pinneaple Chunks Coverplate" for a name ??
It still gives it a Hawaiian theme !!!!!

I cannot wait to see the cone system. The one picture I posted shows a fairly large bulbus object under the saddle. Much larger than any saddle posts I have seen on Schireson cones systems. Once again thank you do much. I will be looking for some period tuners as the current ones are new.

Hi Snakehips No, this is from an additional 36 pages (produced over lockdown) of Regals, Kays, Faux dobros, Australian copies, Del Oros, Hollywoods, Schiresons, french resonators, European Radiotones etc. etc. All the stuff that came into production before the war because of the need to copy what the Dopyeras were doing.

Aha! Does this mean that we have a supplement to the reso bible to save up for, Mark? BTW, here's my little Del Oro with a wooden "resonator".
