Hi there !
Prof Scratchy and I did a duo gig in Arbroath, Scotland, WAY back about 10-15yrs ago.
Turns out it was the very day/night that the smoking ban in public places (including inside pubs) in Scotland started.
There were two people in the audience the whole night. The town was dead, no one in pubs anywhere around. Really spooky.
The manager came up to us and said we might as well finish early - so play just one more tune, then finish up, and we’d still get paid in full.
Half way through this last song, three young gentlemen in shell suits appeared and started dancing in front of us, like they were at a rave, for the rest of the song. Double spooky/weird !!
Was glad to get out of that place !!!

Hi again !
Prof Scratchy tells this one better than me BUT we had an acoustic blues trio gig in Banbury, Oxfordshire, I think it was (circa 20yrs ago).
As we were setting up our instruments and PA system, the pub started to fill up with a big group of guys. As they got their first round of drinks and sat down at some tables, they took off their jackets, to reveal they all had matching T-Shirts, with “Robert Johnson” on the backs.
Should be a good crowd, we thought.
Just before we started playing, the Prof went up to one of them, the only one not wearing a Robert Johnson T-Shirt. He asked them if they were here for the blues festival and fans of Robert Johnson. He said he didn’t like blues but HIS name was Robert Johnson, and he and HIS employees from his own local butcher shop were just here for a pint before going home.
So they finished their pints, and left the pub, before we had even played a note !

Turns out that maybe I posted my last two posts here, on the wrong thread ?? Perhaps should have been on the bizarre thread ??

I think we did get a fish supper when we were there but I wasn’t overly impressed when I had been told it was the best. Plus, they didn’t do “Salt’n’Sauce” there, ha ha !!!
