Hi, First time on this forum. Steve built a tricone round neck for me while he was living in NZ. It has the card suits as fret markers and a large pinup engraved on the back, with the words “You’ve played before” I am interested in finding a buyer for it, Doyle

Hi there !
You need to post pictures of it. Use the “Reply” icon on the far right side, instead of “Quick Reply” on the left. This will give you options to attach photos from your computer. The photos won’t show until you actually finish the post, so don’t worry, after downloading your pictures, when they don’t appear on the screen, as you are still writing your post.

In general how many Tricones have engravings? There was a Style 4 for sale in France (see Tin Can Alley) which had different fretboard inlays to the style 4 in the brochure above so there is at least 2 Style 4's and a couple of custom engraved ones. Anyone know of any any others?

Calvoi, There is the 14 fret Don in Sunny Devon and the promotional special in Suffolk, I am sure there are others but not known personally to me.

Hi there,
I know Steve Evans recently still had a guitar or two from his own personal stash, for sale - a 12-fret single cone (non etched/engraved), and a Tricone, plain, except engraved on the back, the Beltona name in a shield, or something.
Edit - I just checked my enails from Steve from late last year - he has sold the Tricone and some metal ukes.

There is an angel resonator in No. Tom guitars on Denmark street at the moment. Or at least was a week ago. It sounded good but I much prefer a slightly radius fretboard. There is still an Angel triplate in No Tom guitars (as of an hour ago). A 2004 they say, two and an'arf with Carlton case which doesn't sound too bad (no affiliation). I've never got on with triplates, and I was hungry, so it's still there.

It was made by Dave King with Bill Johnson’s Beltona dies that he gave Dave in 2003 or 2004. Dave made a few very nice instruments and then decided he didn’t want to pursue that area and he stopped. I have not seen one since they were first built and I would think they’re great guitars. If you are not comfortable with triplates you are wise to leave it in the shop. Triplates are very different to any other type of resophonic guitars. Shine On Michael

Michael, I've had few but never got on with them, maybe too subtle for my primitive tastes :-) A squareneck triplate might suit me for Hawaiian and show tunes. There was an old style 2 National squareneck there but that was half a years pension and barely got a glance. How Much! :-)

My Beltona is numbered T051 and I think dates from 1994. so the T prefix did not stop at T042
