PD, looking at the string spacing at the headstock of your guitar, I agree that it could do with looking at. Shine On Michael

Thanks Michael - those pics will be a great help.
The old Stella is interesting as each pair of strings seem to be of the same guage!?
They look as if they have been on there since Blind Lemon was a boy....
Is this how they were strung up by them old blues men?

The Havana has a much wider nut, it is 56mm, but does give an idea of string positioning. This has not been adjusted, it is how it left the factory in 1939.
Yours is closer to the two Stellas in my post.

You're not the only one that's had an issue from what the reviewers says about the playability in Michael's video at 5:37. Don't know if would do anything about it or not - I had one of his 6 six string travel guitars, and did not get on with it either tone or design wise. Some of my stellas are also far from the edge and I don't pay it any mind.

PD, there were various ways of stringing 12 string guitars, I can’t tonight, but I’ll write something about it on here.

PD that does seem improperly spaced, this is my '66 Stella which has a 51mm nut. I would definitely look at a new nut and saddle. IMG_1829 by Laurie Franks, on Flickr

Every headstock picture I’ve seen online for these* has the same spacing, so I guess that’s how they come... The Vintage© company use large factories to manufacture their guitars and once a jig is set up to make a component they probably manufacture thousands in one hit. Then they don't have to go back and make any more. On these models they have done a great job of producing a very nice guitar for the price. The cases they are using are manufactured by a company I know in Shanghai and are not cheap. It all adds to making this an attractive package. In the UK the distributors only allow enough time to check that the guitar did not get damaged in transit before they ship them out to dealers. This guitar may need a tweak or two, but I think any discerning guitarist buying a new "off the peg" guitar in any price bracket will have to make some adjustments to get it feeling right for them. Knowing what I know about manufacturing in China, and I now speak with ten years experience, I think Vintage© has done a good job with this one. It's a nice guitar. Shine On Michael

Agreed Michael. The second hand price Mrs.PD paid for the guitar was ridiculously cheap and I have no qualms about spending a bit more to sort the string spacing "issue". Mind you, I'm getting used to it as it is - but it just looks wrong.......
