I like that - particularly the coverplate and colour scheme.

I noticed that guitar this morning and I would probably buy it if it was priced a bit better.

This was one of a few prototypes that came to me that were just not right for production. It's an okay guitar to play and it does have some nice features, but it is NOT an MMB28. It is a test guitar that I sold for a very reasonable price, less than its current asking price. The wood body is not the correct shape, the wood is not the correct thickness, the cone sits too close to the heel and I repaired a split in the neck which happened in transit on its way from China to me. The sound is pretty good, but a little dull sounding compared to the real thing. It is not the same as Bod's 1929 prototype, or Gordons 1928 prototype. They are much closer to the production guitar.
I was really hoping to go with the 1928 coverplate like this one, but when I did comparison tests on the same guitar with a standard sieve coverplate v this one, the sound was so much better on the standard one, which I guess is the reason National stopped this one in 1928. I also tried to get the proper yellow, red and blue patchy paint finish, but on four different sample guitars it went from bad to worse. This one is a pastel colour and looks more like bedroom furniture than a guitar, and the others all looked too bright and looked like they were props for the clowns at the circus. I eventually settled on the wood finish because it was safer. The MMB28 production model is actually closer to a 1929 Triolian than a 1928 one. There were going to be two models, but that idea was scrapped. 28 is also my birthday, which happens to be tomorrow!

I am out.
This is a case of mistaken identity, I thought that was Gordon's old guitar.

Sorry I was late seeing this. It wasn't mine. For one thing, I tried to take better care of my prototype B28, lovely guitar. And the second reason is that in 2017 I donated mine to a charity in Montreal, Quebec, that helps out kids going through heard times with lots of character building activities - including music lessons. Nice people, and they assured me they wouldn't just put it on eBay - though I guess if they did to fund their work I wouldn't hold it against them.
All the best

I'd love a Blues 28 in that finish!

I just watched a couple of videos of the owner, or previous owner, demo-ing it.
These guitars have a life of their own. From being a product sample that lived under my desk gathering dust for a couple of years, to becoming someone's treasured guitar.
I hope we get to see the new owner playing it.

I know this guitar very well! Played it on the streets of Edinburgh for a couple of years, it kept me in bread and milk. Nice to see it again.
All the best.
