GOOD! He didn't get the fortune he was hoping for, which was more than double that figure. I think it still makes it the second most valuable National guitar in existence. And to think I was offered it for £10,000 all those years ago In 1990 I paid £5000 for the Harry Tricone, which at the time was the most anyone had ever paid for a National. Time marches on. Bukka is grinning up there! Shine On Michael

What can one say? It's just become a thing of (hold on I'm lost for words) Apart from the guy playing it, it's just seen as a curiosity by most of the people involved. Any connection with Bukka White is so tenuous as to be meaningless. It's been handled and dribbled on by so many people, all 'mojo' will have been wiped away. As the thread has pointed out, it's become nothing more than a business transaction. Best wishes to you all, John

I think all the mojo was 'wiped away' when Bukka himself had it refinished to be honest.

That's the original condition it was in when a few of us sat with Booker in Toronto in the late sixties. He was playing a campus club and a snow storm had prevented most people from coming. Half a dozen of us lived round the corner, and along with another half dozen brave souls we made up the audience that night. We ended up sitting around Booker, listening to 2 hours of music really close up. I wish I knew then what I know now, about his amazing life and music. An evening I'll never forget, with a very nice man who answered all our less than well informed questions with kindness and patience. Best wishes to you all, John

It has gone to a very good home where it will be preserved and treated (as an iconic piece of American music history) with the respect it deserves. No more can be said at this point, but future generations of blues and guitar fans will benefit from all this.
The connections with Bukka White are all very much there; it was played for decades by him, it has his own personal 'bits' fixed into the headstock, it has a groove in the fretboard where his playing major in a minor tuning cut a groove in the first fret, it was plated by him, it has his set list stuck to the side, it has his picks and tools in the case, it has his name and address on the outside of the case and a hand written letter to the person he gave it to is with it. I don't know what other provenance could make it any more genuine and special. It is a shame that so many people played and handled it in those years while it was in England, but now it can rest in safe hands and benefit future generations.
Shine On Michael.

Mr M seems to know that it found a good home 🤔🤔 I called by the auction house to collect my winnings on Wednesday (which I’m super chuffed about 😀) I tried to catch a glimpse of said guitar but didn’t. So close. So far.

Only speculation TT. I prefer my egg in the frying pan rather than on my face.
