Hi Michael,
Hoping my parlor res would sound more interesting amplified, I've been interested for a while but did not see that they were available. I hope these questions are forum appropriate. The one I am interested in - if there is shipping to the US at this point - is for a woodbody parlor size resonator using pb Newtones.
(1.)I have no clue as to humbucker or single coil or what type of amp I would use either - I have both - do I need to research the humbucker vs. single coil issue for pb, or is it single coil for acoustic?
(2.) Is this something I would have to modify to work or need a pre-amp ?
Thank you. Harriet

Hi Michael
when you say nickel are those the same as normal electric guitar strings? If so then the magnets need to be removed ..

Why is that Jon? Without magnets they just become dummy coils. This is why resistance readings are very misleading with pick ups- you can have 16K monsters but with no magnetic field, no sound. Have I missed something here? Apologies if so.

Hi Stevie
not sure why TBH .. This is from the SIXTUS website .....
"Although being a magnetic pickup, this pickup is remarkably true to the genuine sound of the resonator guitar. To adjust the output of the b- and e-string of acoustic phosphor bronze string sets shift the lid aside and move the "poleShade magnets" in their slot. Closer to the middle means more dampening. Then shut the lid and fix the pickup on the guitar. For electric guitar strings simply take out the pole shade magnets."

Hello, as a frequent reader of this forum it is a great pleasure to notice how well Sixtus pickups are received. Thank you for that! The opinions help me a lot to learn about my products.
Regarding the differences within my pickups and their comparison to others I am looking forward to gather experience with you. Regards & greetings from Vienna. Elmar

Michael got the humbucker over to me and I've put it on my MM blues 28. It really is a remarkable pickup, clear as can be. It really is hearing the reso but louder. I have Lace and Highlander pickups and this is right up there with them. Plugged straight into an acoustic amp and your off! Haven't used it through anything pedal or effects wise but I'm sure it will be fun. But as a straightforward reso pickup I don't think there's anything to better it, especially at the price. Didn't mean this to read like a review, but I wanted to share the good news!
Best wishes to you all, John

As far as recent feedback indicates, 1) the classic twin coil is humbucking and gives a round and harmonic sound with a lot of treble. The single coil as a matter of fact is not humbucking and has more mids, which allows more fuzz to let it sound crunchy. I personally like the single coil closer to the bridge and the twin coil closer to the neck. 2) Both pickups can be used directly with no preamp in between. However, Sixtus pickups are made for sound, not for output voltage. Common pickups have a higher impedance.

(thanks to Martin for reposting Harriet's questions)
Hi Harriet,
My apologies for not responding sooner.
Elmar is far more qualified than me to explain about MM Sixtus pickups and he has done so very clearly.
I am happy to ship pickups to the US. Let me know and I'll put one in the mail to you.
