I just bought Death Letter, which I believe is the same / also known as Father of Folk Blues, recorded in ‘65. It’s the 1985 release and is meant to be low on digital interruptions and compression  Only 9 songs but they are 9 big songs! I’d be interested to know where to start also with regards to his work as a younger man. Maybe there are some Pristine Records remasters like MM has talked about in the past for Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, etc? The Clarksdale Moan 2cd set - from 1940-41 - was a real ear-opener for me, including some great tracks where he plays nicely with others, as it were. Here’s one of em |

I think this is one link to the early recordings - I believe they are on this set along with other artists like Charlie Patton from JSP - there is listed 2 offering on that and below is a visual on one, "The Charlie Patton Complete Recordings 1929-1934." I'm not sure but there may be a Catfish compilation as well that includes Son House - I didn't research it . Harriet, that’s missing Clarksdale Moan and Mississippi County Farm from his Paramount sessions. These great tracks are available, can’t trace my cd with them just now though.
