Hi Jono,
That's great! I look forward to meeting you.
I hope this doesn't put you off coming, but I do not play any slide guitar in standard tuning. I played that way for a while in the 70s, but soon realised the limitations and that almost everyone I was interested in was playing in open tunings. I play everything in open tunings, with and without a slide. There are many reasons for me choosing to only play in open tunings and if we want to have a forum discussion on the subject, we should start a separate thread, rather than clog up this workshop thread.
I can certainly teach you to be able to play slide in any tuning, because it is about technique, rather than showing licks.

Hi Michael
Not put me off in the slightest.. i mainly paly on Open G or D ..but occasionally put my Mick Taylor "head" on .. i have the technique sorted its the licks that throw me due to the limitations of the tuning.

Hello folks. Still a few tickets left, and great news - MM and Manish will do a performance afterwards (after a tea break)! This will cost no extra to workshop attendees, but if you want to just come to the performance, it will be £7.50 / £5 concessions. Please message me ASAP if you want a ticket to either. TT

I’m sure we’ll all have to re-tune before playing so I shouldn’t worry mate

Hi Jon (and everyone). Whilst MM is having a nap before the showcase set, maybe it would be an idea to have a 1/2 hour session where we can all go off piste and share a few tips / tunes (e.g. playing slide in standard etc). I'll be setting up a mini PA for MM, and might do a couple of tunes to test it all. As for what tuning to start with, I reckon there's a 50% chance open G might be good to tune to See you next week.
