Hey forum,
Looking for a National body to attach a 12 string neck to.
I saw a vintage body on USA eBay years ago that would have been perfect but non have surfaced recently.
Anybody got such a thing?
Long shot I know but this forum always comes up trumps!
Could be NRP or vintage or maybe you've got a clunker with a broken or twisted neck.
PM with any thing you may have.
If nothing pops up then I might just have to just bite the bullet and sell a few things and get NRP or Steve at Beltona to make me a 12 string.
Cheers, guys and gals.

Hi there !
Did I sell you the 12-string neck I had, some years back ??
It was made by Don Young, in the mid 1980's, when still at Dobro, to fit a (Bakelite neck model) National Triolian. Thus, if this IS the neck you have, then it will only likely fit a vintage 12-fret model National body. If you try to fit it to a modern reso body, then the intonation will likely be WAY off !

Hey, snakehips.
You didn't sell me that although it looks great. Beautiful to know Don made it.
I actually have a style o deluxe that I believe you had at one time. Bought it off of a chap called Charles.
I've got a friend that luthiers for a hobby and he offered to make a neck and get me a 12 string working if i bring him a body! Not much on offer though in terms of bodies so may have been expecting too much!
All the best!

There's a guy called Ted Drown in USA who I think has a number of old OMI bodies, if that's of any use. TT

Maybe - OP didn't specify 12 or 14f. TT

I think we are all confusing 12 string with 12 fret in our minds!
TT, you are correct that it has not been stated, 12 or 14 fret body.

Hey guys.
Thanks for the replies!
Wasnt too sure about 12/14 fret bodies as it was such a long shot anyway. Was going to see what people came back with (if anything).
I suspect a 12 fret would have been best. I saw a vintage 12 fret style 0 body on eBay years ago and remembered it when I started wondering about trying to get a 12 string National and the different ways of doing it. I thought this would be a good place to see if anybody has a stack of old bits or know of any.
I've been playing my Stella 12 in C and it's got me really juiced and keen to get a giggable National 12 string set up for that.
There are pics on google of a 1930s 12 string with white headstock that make me drool and which would have been nice to recreate.
Back to the drawing board I think!

I assembled this witn an NRP neck and far eastern body. Was very unhappy that it developed a bow as if the truss rod was defective. Have since disassembled it and planning to try to figure out what is wrong with the neck.

I wonder if you simply put a -12string , nut, Machines, saddle and tailpiece on a 6 would it take the added string tension without fubaring it. Stock reso necks are wide enough. Kind of thing I would have tried when I was young, dumb and didn't have the Internet to tell me not to...

I was intrigued as to how a 12 string tricone might sound and found this:

What a shame that neck bowed. Looks great otherwise! Thanks for the video link too. What a great sound!
