King Guitar is a great album. Sorry I missed out on hearing it for so long. Not only is the guitar playing exceptional, but as a bassist, I love and will learn much from the bass playing.
Its available on ebay, kids...

Hi Fred, Thank you for your kind words! King Guitar was released in 2001 and is a compilation of blues material from albums and various sessions that I recorded between 1988 and 1999. There's some press & reviews about King Guitar on my website - here's the link. The KG stuff is in the right hand column. www.michaelmesser.co.uk/archived-press-clippingsHave you got the original 2001 Catfish Records CD, or the 2006 Cooking Vinyl reissue? They are both identical, but the package on the original works a little better for me because it is on matt card, rather than glossy paper. Those amps again! We just used it for the photos, it wasn't in working order. That photo shoot was in Whistler, Canada. I have no idea how it all sounds when listened to for the first time in 2018, that is almost 30 years after some of it was recorded. Shine On Michael

Michael. I received the Cooking Vinyl version. Well...the recording sounds like it could chart quite well if it was released today. The wife has been helping me with some painting today, while the disc was playing, and said “this guys music is really growing on me”...
I was fortunate that my National “shield”amp was recapped by the previous owner (hopefully with suitable values) and is a player. Will try to do some recording with it some day if I ever finish the home renovation work...

Hi Fred,
You and your wife have very fine taste in music!
Thanks, I am pleased you are enjoying the album.
KG charted on your side of the pond. In May 2001 it was Living Blues #1 album.
1 - MM - King Guitar 2 - Buddy Guy - Sweet Tea 3 - Robert Cray - Shoulda' Been Home
It all seems like a long time ago. That MM was only 45 years old.
Shine On Michael
