Just got a Levy's strap - very good quality (and price from Rich Tone Music) - but wondering what the extra bit with the press on stud is: Any idea? Philip

Levy's straps are the best. I have a few and they last a lifetime.
None of my Levy's have that little extra bit with the press-stud, but I think it is for looping a cable through.

Thanks - wondered about that as the purpose. Yes, strap looks great quality and price was very good indeed. Seems comfortable. The price was so good that I ordered another one for a different guitar.

Seems likely to me as well. The pop stud is there to avoid the need to thread the cable through. A good idea because you can simply remove it if it is not necessary and it saves the cable from abrading the guitar's finish.
After a little subtle prompting, best beloved bought me a premium padded Levy's strap for Christmas and presumably via jungle drums, Sister bought me a vanilla un-padded one at the same time. Both are too short insofar as I swapped then around on the guitars trying to get the padded (or even the wider) region to go over my shoulder (and neck even!) Lemons. Both of them.
Unfair? I don't think so because I just purchased an obviously Levy's inspired knock-off from an eBay trader "spartan-music" item number 252463793546 that is soft and nicely padded leather for £17.99 (delivered) and yep- it is long enough. I'm going to purchase some more of them at that price. Michael, I've avoided linking here and I'm not advertising, just proving the point I'm raising and sharing what I consider as my good fortune.
Research has revealed that Levy's do indeed offer a small selection of different lengths but why? It seems such a basic thing to me. All that beautifully padded and expensive leather real estate just to carry a corporate logo and otherwise bulky and basically non functional.
Perhaps I was given the early 1960s Beatles model! ;<D

Stevie,
I am 5' 10" (maybe an extra 1/2") and there was plenty of adjustment either way on the strap I bought - just the normal length one.

Philip; Mine was bought for me as a "surprise" for the feast of Saturnalia. (Both were actually). I should have investigated alternative sizes, but soliciting receipts from two different emporia from two individuals that intended them as a gift, parcelling each one up, going to the Post Office and paying for recorded delivery for both after the obligatory queue, I lost the will. I would have done it when I was younger... I could understand if they were intended for guitars and I was using them on my bass, but nevertheless I unreservedly agree that they are more than just decent straps as MM has opined. Enjoy!

I use the Heistercamp straps which are absolutely brilliant in my opinion, wonderful quality and a choice of colours, linings and metalwork, really impressed with them

I have no affiliation with them but they are really good, made to order and delivered very quickly, I prefer the super soft leather and have a couple of Leedon Tors which I use for acoustics as they have no buckles or other metalwork, also have a couple of other models which I use for electrics, the only thing that I would say is that one of the services that is offered is personalisation, ie adding three initials to the strap, on my Marine Blue strap you struggle to see them, as for the lining which is an optional extra I find that the suede gives more of a grip and I prefer the feel of it, for really beastly guitars you can go up to a 4 inch strap but I have found that three is plenty for my Lightning, they are really well made with superb leather and attention to detail, I've got four and don't use any other straps now but I expect to buy another couple soonish. If you buy one you certainly wont be disappointed.
Cheers
Pete
