If you look at his "items for sale" list there are some pics where you can see a loop at the other end from the tassle. This loop goes onto the rear strap button and I suggest you use the famous Grolsch beer bottle washer as a straplock too. The tassle end ties round the head stock so make sure you get the length right.

Dunno Jono, but they were certainly used on old parlours and cowboy guitars. Attachment Deleted

Every one of those straps, all coming in as they do at £26.42, are described by the seller as "intended as case candy only".
At first I took heart that this discussion reflected the fact that unlike myself, folks are actually getting out there standing up and performing. After consideration, it seems that these would be ideal to steady a heavy resonator while playing sitting down, so it should be an ideal solution for me. Except of course that I have never really noticed any problem in this area. Personally, I would have a problem forking out that sum for a length of rope, albeit posh rope.
I would instinctively make one of these if I wanted one. To have some real mojo I guess I would source a stripper's tassle from somewhere! but I wouldn't know how to go about that these days ;<D "Pasties and a G String"- that seems appropriate!
All this reminds me of sitting in The Ship in Dunwich on the East Coast one evening decades ago, demolishing a pint of Broadside while a local lady made a tassle for us there and then, and which is to this day attached to the winding crank of our long case clock.
When I play, my right arm grips the guitar body unconsciously and the crutch that is my left hand steadies the instrument. If my reso starts to slide away from me I just cross my legs. I've never been able to fathom this tendency for guitars to slide away from folks while they are playing. Well except for a Flying V perhaps, but even those can be forked over your leg.

Another suggestion is to Google "Dressing Gown Cords with Tassels". There are thousands of them for sale.
