Hi Michael and other forum members,
Advice/help needed please! I recently noticed that the neck on my Michael Messer Resonator (MMB 0086 09) has "bowled". The guitar has been stored in its case and only occasionally been gigged. Always strung with strings gauged 13-56 and tuned to an open D (love all the Ry Cooder stuff). I took it to our local repair man who has serviced my other guitars for many years now and he tightened the truss rod as much as he dared...but to no avail. Heartbroken...since the sound of this guitar is fabulous and although I mainly play slide on it I have now lost the ability to play "normal" finger style guitar. I have of course checked YouTube for solutions and seen everything from clamping the neck under a heat lamp to removing the fret board and shaving/levelling out the neck etc. etc. I was long overdue to join this forum but thought before I do something I would ask your advice. I love this guitar and didn't expect this to happen! The problem really starts at 4th-5th fret. Your help/advice in this matter would be highly appreciated! Kind regards. Hello Michael,
Welcome to our forum.
I have moved this thread into the area where MM Guitars are discussed.
Your guitar, #86 from 2009, was one of the early MM guitars from the second shipment that we received.
I am sorry this has happened. I am happy to help and advise in any way I can. Most manufacturers would not accept responsibility for damage to an eight year old guitar, but if is our fault and not 'fair wear & tear', we will do something to correct it.
I don't know where you are based, but if you can get your guitar to the MM Guitars luthier, Dave King Acoustics, near Newbury, we can have a look.
It doesn't help you much, but I think this is the first time anyone has come back with a warped neck problem.
Best wishes
Shine On Michael

Dear Michael. Thank you for your prompt reply. Firstly I should say "Thank You" for a great guitar! It was a surprise present from my wife back when I moved to England after having served many years abroad with the United Nations. It is very dear to me and it still forms part of our opening set (Amazing Grace/Poor Boy) when I play with our local blues/gospel band in various church fund raising events. As I said the sound is amazing. I appreciate it's getting old but because it means so much to me I needed to see if anything could be done to it. And I didn't want to do anything until I've had your advice; hence my mail. I live in the Peterborough area and I suppose I could try and get it sent to Newbury or plan a trip down with the car. Is it possible to get the contact details to Dave King Acoustics so that I could try and contact him and possibly get it sent down? Best regards. Michael
