Very Nice. I thought frosted finishes were only on Duolians...

That is a rare guitar!
Here is a quote from Mark Makin's book of all things Dopyera related "Palm Trees, Senoritas & Rocket Ships" ...
Extremely rare ‘B’ series Duco finish. Only a handful are known, starting around 04B and going as high as 87B. The last examples have rolled ‘f’ holes. Distinguished by the dramatic brown Duco finish. These were made only for a period of about a year, from the middle of 1933.
What is the serial number?

Hi Michael, Yes really pleased to get it. The serial No. on this one is 80B. The photo's above are actually quite a lot lighter than it actually is. I will try to get some better ones as it does look much better in the flesh. Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the number. It's a beautiful guitar. I see that it is already listed in Mark's serial numbers.
Did you get it in the UK?
I thought it would make Rik smile, and it did!

Frosted finishes on Ukes Mandos & Guitars, also I have seen nice examples on fiddle edge guitars (Regal/Dobro) If it moves Duco it!!! Although never seen a Duco Tricone from that era Lee

Here are a pic of my B series that show much more how it appears in the flesh. Hopefully it will open bigger when clicked on. Michael, I bought it in the States. Does Marks book give any more info on it other than just the serial No? The fingerboard and frets look quite recent on it Attachments:series b 33333.jxr (139.56 KB)
