It is not often that we get the chance to spend time with Indian slide guitarists, especially ones that can play as well as Manish Pingle! Manish Pingle will be in the UK for the whole of June and as we have some free days it would be great to do a workshop or two. Last year, forum member, Deuce, put on a lovely event at his local village hall. Manish and I were the tutors and Deuce stuffed us with sandwiches and tea! We had a really good afternoon and it would be wonderful to do one or two of these events in June. I would be happy to host one in London area. I don't have a venue yet, but with enough people committing to come I will happily find us a good place to do it. If anyone would like to set up a Michael & Manish slide guitar afternoon, let me know and we can find a way of making it work. On that note; Manish and I are also pretty good at doing the duo without our wonderful tabla player. While this not MM's Mitra and can't be billed as that, if it covers our expenses and gives us something, we'd love to come and do a gig at your local. We'd rather be out playing than not! Hi Michael I am always keen to do workshops, it seems a lot end up being further north so something London way would be amazing!! I know the one you ran at Guildford a few years back went down really well and had a good attendance. Count me in, dates pending of course All the best David

Great idea, I'm game as long as it's outside the M25 circle, her highness gives me an exeunt chit and date dependent, of course.

Okay ..... If I can find a good place outside the M25, we're on!
We need: enough space and chairs to accomodate 12 to 15 people. Parking outside the door. Either a place that sells coffee & tea, or gives us access to a kitchen. Here's a thought... would somebody like to host this at their home and make it a workshop and concert? I am just throwing some ideas out there! I am open to any suggestions to get this off the ground, I just think it would be a shame to miss this opportunity while Manish Pingle is here.
I don't think Manish and I can do a Saturday in June, but we do have two Sundays, 19th and 26th available. My preference would be for Sunday 19th June. How does that sound?
Please leave a message on here if you would be interested in coming. We need a dozen or so people to make it viable.
It would be great to make this happen. It is a rare and special thing to be able to spend time with a master Indian slide guitarist that plays the blues and is such great company. Manish is an incredible musician and you cannot fail to benefit 'musically' from being around him. This won't be an 'Indian' slide guitar workshop, it will be a SLIDE GUITAR workshop. Between the two of us we can cover a lot of ground.

Hi Michael 19th would be preferable for me as the 26th is the day before my wife's birthday so we may be away. Obviously it has to suit everyone though. Sadly I'll be driving up to London so any venues I could recommend would probably be too far south. I do know somewhere here in Southampton though that I think you would go down a storm if you ever fancy gracing us with your presence All the best David

19th. sounds good for me too. My place is a bit small I'm afraid but there could be another possibility right out here on the NE Essex coast, 2 hours East of London which may be a bit too far out geographically for most. However, to be more central there's Bledlow Village Hall in South Bucks where I used to rehearse in 1969. I believe that the hall has been modernized, has parking, a new kitchen and can still be hired. ...............or you could try for a room in Cliveden House. (long story )

June weekends are all spoken for so I couldn't get to London area on either of those dates.
I'm planning on being at your Exeter Phoenix Gig this year. If you were able to do a workshop before the show at that venue I'd be up for that.

I am a member of a sailing club based in Wembley north west London, right next to the end of the M1. Our club isn't used on Sunday's I would ask if it would be possible to use the building for one of them dates. Let me know if that is of interest and I can ask the powers that be
