This is a new one on me too. I can see from the photos that these are built in Shanghai by the network of resonator guitar factories. How many exist, or what their quality control is like, I can't help you with. I can tell you that much of the design features coming out of Shanghai at the moment, are based on and copy my designs. It would be wrong of me to say more because I don't want to turn this thread into an MM Guitars promotion. Most of these companies are ordering generic Shanghai-built guitars and putting their name on the headstocks.

The Royall 29s are guitars that were made with the wrong thickness of wood, so they are NOT MM guitars. I was going to run two models of the MMB wood body, a 28 and a 29. Hmmm.... so now my rejects get sold off!
I am not too worried. An MM guitar has to come direct from either me or 12th Fret in Toronto. Nothing else, even if it looks like it, is an MM guitar.

Hi! I'm not going to post it directly on to the forum but if you put 'Straughan guitars' into YouTube, you will find a demo/promotion video. I seem to remember they came out of the US(via Shanghai) about a year or so ago. Not seen anything else from them since.

This happens quit regularly; someone decides that starting their own brand of resonator guitars like MM is a quick and cheap way to make some money. They order their first shipment, which is also usually their last shipment. What they fail to realise is that what looks cheap as the base price is very different to what it actually costs to get a guitar from Shanghai to the wall of a guitar shop in the West. There are numerous financial obstacles along the way. It is not quite as easy as they think. I have been contacted by a couple of people in recent years asking for help and advice because it is not as easy as it looks.

That seems to be what I have been finding out. Many thanks again for the info as I continue with my learning curve!
