So, I recently acquired (what was sold as and appears to me to be) a Supro Rhythm Master guitar, a little tatty and poorly refinished (in white), but within my price range and plenty good enough for my purposes. Seller thought 1960, but the dating info I found online suggests '59. Anyway, here it is:
In general, I love it and it all seems to work pretty well, but there is an issue with the 'tone' controls, in that none of the 3 tone pots for the 3 individual pickups make any discernible difference to the sound. (As the master volume, the tone switch and the 3 individual pickup volume controls all work just fine, it's tempting to think that this may come down to a single fault at some point in the circuit that is common to the 3 tone controls, but I don't know.... Suggestions very welcome)
Anyway, here's the couple of questions I'd really appreciate help with:
1) Is there anywhere that I might find an accurate wiring diagram for one of these (or a National Baron, I believe they were effectively the same thing)?
2) Is there anyone who is particularly good with / knowledgable about the wiring on this kind of beastie, i.e., someone recommended for identifying and fixing such problems and possibly a more general wiring once over?* (Apart from a newish jack socket, the electronics and wiring are said to be original - they certainly look old, but it's also a bit messy. I wonder if the person who did the refinish also reassembled the wiring... Getting someone competent to check and sort it seems a good idea, but I don't want to replace anything in there that I don't have to)
*Sorry, should have said, ideally in the South of England - I'm in Hampshire, the nearer to me the better, but ability to do a good job more important than location...
