I'll be there...(!)
As of last week, all but 2 of the rooms I reserved at the Swallow Hotel were taken so we have the makings of a good party.
Looking forward to welcoming some folks who are coming along for the first time - as well as the loyal supporters who've been to all the Swindon Weekends to date.
It'll be a bit of a reunion for the gang who went to Wyoming this summer - and yes we WILL bore you with our holiday photos so: tough! We have a couple of talks lined up, plus a quiz. Our Quizmaster is that infamous Guernseyman so everyone had better bone up on their pre-war blues or else....
And there'll be plenty of time for socialising, drinking, playing and jamming.
Sonya x

Richard, where's your avatar gone? I like your little 1940s drumkit picture. We cannot allow a 'TOTAL CONEHEAD FORUM MEMBER' not to have an avatar :-)
Here's a good question for your quiz which is Channel Islands related. Who is the most famous 'legendary' singer & acoustic guitarist to have spent time visiting Jersey?
Shine On, Michael.

A big hello to all the smashing blokes i met at the swindon meet. It was great to have a chat with Mr McWee again - i could spend all my money on his stand! The John Anderson made Les Paul was fab! - an awesome quality bit of kit that i could've played all day. It was so gutting that i couldn't stay for longer. I look forward to meeting you all again - and hopefully staying for the whole event! all the best Nick

Most definitely another successful 'Swindon Bash' A huge thank you to Sonya, Paul & the team for making last weekend's soiré another cracking event again - it gets better every time, even successfully utilising the more 'homely' room this time round It's great to meet up with all the familiar faces (plus putting faces to forum names!), and we all look forward to the next bash! A big thank you to Richard 'Flying-Fingers' Thomas for his excellent slide-work with 'The Travelling Pillsbury's', and a real pleasure to meet up again with Nick Jones (nickysplendid), a superb player, and the owner of the sweetest sounding (and playing) metal-bodied guitar ever to leave the factory at San Luis Obispo Also, Tom Doughty's talk on Debashish Bhattacharya, and his recent trip to India to study with him accompanied by Debashish's music in the background was enthralling - describing daily life in Calcutta quite colourfully Looking forward to the next one - and thanks again to all involved ;D Slide On! Ian, John-Boy & the crew!

Many thanks to all who came along and supported the weekend. It was great to see several new faces there, as well as the 'regulars'. It was our largest attendance to date! It's very easy to organise these events because people are always so forthcoming with offers to give talks, demos etc and lend their PA (thanks Graham - I still can't believe how you got all that kit into your car!). And it's a pleasure to see happy groups of people, jamming, chatting, drinking, trying out instruments and bottlenecks and generally enjoying sharing their enthusiasm for the Blues. There will definitely be another 'Swindon' early in 2007 - hopefully at the same venue, but as the hotel is in the process of changing hands we may not get the same excellent deal with them. Plus the current management seem to happily tolerate impromptu performances in various parts of the hotel, and seem unphased by jams which continue till 3.00 or 4.00am! My only regret is that the weekend always seems to be over so soon. I'm already looking forward to the next one.... Sonya

Just to add my thanks for putting it on again and look forward to the next... doesn't that Ian McW look younger every time you see him While I'm here and the topic of the Guernsey thing next April is still current in the mind... if you are interested have a look at the site and email me with any questions, but don't make 'em as difficult as I made the quiz www.weekendblues.orgSonya, Derek thanks again.
