I haven't changed the strings on my Triolian since I bought it in 2011. I prefer the mellower sound of broken in strings, but they are getting pretty gross now. Any recommendations for new strings that are mellow right out of the package? Nickel?
Thanks!

I like Elixir Polyweb Resonator Strings 16-56. They last for ages and sound great straight from the box. I doubt if they'll last for 5 years though! The Newtone National Michael Messer strings are also very good, and generally recommended by many resonator guitarists. Be careful how you put them on though - remember to follow the instructions on the packet, unlike me

Yes - sort of. Change them one at a time (i.e. a week or so apart) - start with the grimmest one. One bright string doesn't sound so odd, and gives a tiny bit of brightness to the otherwise dull sound. TT
