What started with me mislaying my favorite glass slide, developed into enjoying another side of resonator guitar playing.
I have been having a lot of fun playing non-slide stuff on my resonators.
I did an acoustic jam/rehearsal with a band I play in the other week, where I used my acoustic resonator in standard tuning, accompanying a double bass and unamped vocals, knocking out some of the jazzier covers we do.
It has also been spending a lot of time in double drop D too, nice for playing both fingerstyle and flat-picking too.
I have since found my fave slide, but I have been enjoying not using it.
Resonators have a whole lot of other musical uses.

Weren't resonators originally developed for jazz players? I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere. They came along as jazz bands began phasing out the banjo, but folk guitars just weren't loud enough.
