Hi I am very pleased with my new Lightning guitar . A have a question about the weight balance though - maybe it's because I'm not used to the guitar but I find it a little 'body heavy' so when holding on my knee the neck is pushing upwards if that makes sense? Is there any adjustment I can do to make it balance or hold a bit better?

Hi Sliderman,
I am pleased you are happy with your guitar.
All National and National-style resonator guitars are body-heavy. You have to develop a way of balancing it so you can play without it tipping backwards. If you look at photos of me and other experienced resonator players, you will see that we hold them at an angle and that the neck is angled forward. I have been playing National guitars for so long that I don't even think about it, but there was a time.
I hope that is helpful.
Shine On Michael.

Hi Sliderman,
you could try the classical guitar position, leaving the lower bout between your legs. To me it´s the most comfortable way playing any acoustic. As a former Firebird-Player and heavy Johnny Winter Aficionado i got used to that feeling of headstock far west of me. Playing a metal-bodied reso the headstock won´t be that far away and the body will not move in any direction. Enjoy playing your Lightning. MM-Guitars are a great value and might be sought after as collectible items ( hopefully as players, no wall-hangers )in future.
