Currently on the 'bay'...according to the seller,no serial number on headstock. Would this be an early Prototype? Not sure if I opened this thread in correct section but my question is more about the serial number or lack of. Orbital.

Orbital,
All MM Lightning guitars do, or should, have serial numbers on the headstock. Even the prototypes were numbered. I can only assume that this one has slipped through the net. I would like to see a photo of the headstock.
I have moved this thread to Main Street because I like to keep all commercial MM stuff in one place and it keeps the rest of the forum non commercial.

Looking at the case and one or two other details, I think that Lightning is from 2009/10. There are no current bids, it's a great guitar for £299

I think some of the seconds Robin sold had no serial number - mine didn't. TT

It is water under the bridge as Busker Guitars and I are no longer in business together, but the way I set it up was that all MM guitars have serial numbers.
Our numbering system is not all that strict, the format varies and occasionally there are duplications, but no MM guitars should be out in the world without a number of some kind.

The 'seller' thinks Robin wrote a serial number in pencil on the inside of this guitar...

The guitar looked genuine enough - Michael Messer Lightning on the headstock, the MM logo on the hand rest. I followed the auction, but lost interest when it reached £419.

This guitar is now on its third listing on the 'bay'. Was initially listed as starting at £ 299.99 & sold for £419 but wasn't paid for. Has been re-listed twice since with a starting bid of £400...no current bids again. If someone on here is interested, may be worth making a lesser offer to the seller by way of a message, and if it doesn't sell this time, you may have a bargain. Orbital.

I should add,no connection to seller... I was just having fantasies of owning the MM set of guitars and made some enquiries! Orbital.

Slightly disappointed that I missed out on a lightning yesterday on ebay - went for £343, fractionally over my bid ! TT
