I'm the happy owner of two new parlor resonators, a Republic Miniolian and an Aeirsi TRG-06. They're very similar guitars -- the Miniolian is definitely the more higher end of the two. The Miniolian also comes with a spun Continental tone. I'm trying to figure out what I have inside the Aeirsi (without opening it up just yet). From what I can see through the F-holes, the cone in there looks identical to the Miniolian's cone (which looks like the picture below). Are there other ways to see whether a cone is spun or not? (It's doubtful Aeirsi will respond to my question, since they're in China and communication isn't a priority over there.) If it is indeed a Continental, then I won't bother replacing it.

Hi Mickeyz,
The cone in your Aeirsi guitar is a Continental. Most of the Shanghai-made resonator guitars have Continental cones, whereas resonator guitars from other parts of China and the Far East do not.
If you want to improve the one in the photo you posted, make a new bridge saddle with a piece of maple or boxwood. That rosewood cap is too hard and is not helping to give your guitar a sweet tone. You will also get more bass and mids with the correct material. Or.... get a National Reso-Phonic biscuit & bridge and fit that. They're only £10 or so, and they are really good.
