Going back to an earlier comment re sliding above the 12th,does anyone have any links to these techniques that can be learnt & practiced. I'm in the process of buying my first resonator and having until recently only ever played a 14fret acoustic cutaway,I need to teach myself these skills.Have been going round in circles for few days deciding which MMB to go for though leaning more towards a 12fret today.

Going back to an earlier comment re sliding above the 12th,does anyone have any links to these techniques that can be learnt & practiced. I've never seen any formal techniques per se for playing slide on the 14th fret of a 12th fret resonator, its a matter of looking for people who do that, observe how they hold the slide, imitate it and practice. There's not alot of playing above the 14th fret acoustic slide other than a little phrase here and there and plenty of material to learn without that. I had forgotten there is Charlie which is an exception! Here's a clip on a 12 fret that goes down and a clear demonstration of the way Tom Feldmann holds the slide and he's going to the 17th fret which starts about 3:10

'lo- yeah that is a really fine example-thanks for that-& good advise to see who's doing it & how they are doing it-cant find the clip on tube of Roy Rogers talking about Robert Johnson but he does a bit of Terraplane Blues w/ his guitar (12 fret) tuned to looks like low E 'cos his capo is way up 5th fret-he is all over the top of the guitar w/ his slide-i remember seeing a post here by MM talking about sliding up there-think the post was about 'which finger wears the slide'-see Tom here wears his slide on the little finger & holds it straight to the frets-but i use my ring finger & angle it correcting the flats by twisting my wrist as needed or just using the tip of the slide a la Son House-'cos watching & listening to him over the years is what finally got me wanting to slide-i just never thought i'd be able to- but once you try its just so addicting & fun-doesnt matter what you buy first just jump in & if you find you might like the other save up & get that one too....dbs

DBS - is this the link?
Many years I had a long, long chat with RR in a London pub about our families, general likes, travelling and other things. Didn't realise who it was until a guy came up and told him he should have been up on stage 10 minutes before. He's a good bloke IMHO.
