The spacing of the grooves on my MM Blues 28 saddle is too narrow between the 1st and 2nd string grooves, and the 1st string groove is too deep, making the 1st string a little low. Can you tell me what the saddle is made of, if I can get a new one the same size (but with correct spacing!)? It still sounds great, and it's just a minor problem.
ooops - the 1st string wasn't properly seated in the saddle notch. It is now and the spacing is fine. I think I'm destined to be a reso newbie for the rest of my life. Ich bin so doof ....

Hi Fredi,
I would not try to fill the slot. The best material to replace the bridge saddle with is maple, or if you can get it, boxwood. Do not use ebony, it is too hard.
Which shop did you buy your guitar from?

I thought so. This was one of two or three guitars that my ex distributor sold off to Jaywalk Guitars when we parted company. I believe it is one of the first batch of 24 MMB28s (with a low serial number) that do not have MM coverplates. Is that correct?
The best thing to do is to buy a National Reso-Phonic biscuit/bridge unit and fit that. It is one of the only upgrades I recommend and if fitted properly it will improve the tone of the guitar. They cost about £10.
