The Skylark is still there. This one doesn't have 'f' holes. The Resolian has a bowed neck, think the current owner has been a bit unrealistic about Rrp in item description.Thought the Republics all had 2way adjustable truss rods...

I still can't find a Skylark parlour resonator -- can you post the link? As for the Resolian...the ad seems dishonest. For one, a new Republic Resolian would cost 800 EUROS (so about 570 pounds), including case and shipping (I have a quote from a dealer in Belgium)... nowhere near the 900 pounds he's claiming. He's also selling the guitar without a case, but all of these guitars come with a "featherlight" foam case (which are quite nice in fact, both of my new parlors came with their own). From the look of that neck bow, there's no way that this "is no way any detriment to the playability of the guitar," as the seller claims. It's possible he just doesn't know how to tighten a truss rod, or the previous owner liked it slack to help in playing slide. But the only reason to bid on this guitar would be as a project.

That's the price if you try to import the guitar yourself -- which is NOT a good idea. For one, I suspect a dealer in US would be tempted to send off a dud model, knowing someone overseas is a lot less likely to ship it back again. And as you point out, by the time you're finished paying the shipping, duties and taxes (and penalties -- here in France, they're brutal about that), it's not worth it. But Republic has dealers over here. I bought my Miniolian from a dealer in Belgium, that's where the quote price comes from. It's possible he gets his stock of Republics directly from China. For the Aeirsi, I found a dealer in the UK, who definitely imports directly from China. (I once tried to import a guitar from China myself -- BAD MOVE!) To post a link, you can just paste it in -- or click on the Reply button (not Quick Reply) which will open full editor. There's a code button adding links.

Okay, thanks, finally! Don't know why it didn't come up -- I typed pretty much those exact terms. So this one is a Dobro-type? Does it have a spider bridge? Haven't seen one of these before.

Very little info on item description...Im always bit wary of sellers who only write a few words. Maybe ask them a question but don't hold your breath. I didn't hear back from the seller of the 'dubious' neck Resolian either.

I didn't hear back from the seller of the 'dubious' neck Resolian either. Well, I'm all sorted for guitar for the next while. I might go for a Resolian down the line, but only once I've had a chance to hold one myself: if it's as heavy as my metal reso, I don't want it. I'm really into small, lightweight guitars now. The price on the Skylark is too high anyway. I doubt it's any higher quality than the two parlors I have.

Im kind of on the lookout for a parlour (non reso)...do you know anything about a vintage 'Florida' parlour guitar, made in Germany (West) 50's,60's? There's three on ebay currently. I bought a 50's East German made parlour couple months back, only paid £30,but the fretboard is warped, dips in the middle. There's another one of them on ebay, but needs a neck reset, red&amber parlour. These where cheap eastern block guitars back then I researched. The Florida looks an improvement. I'm hoping to order my MMB this week then I'll be sorted for guitars, short of a better parlour.

Just getting back to the original thread, was wondering if barrycreed had found something suitable yet? I believe he picked up a Republic Resolian from the same place that sold me my Minolian. I'm guessing he only joined the forum for purchasing advice. Or maybe he's on tour?
