Hi philh, I had a Sigma small bodied twelve string years ago that I foolishly sold. The guitars you have linked to are really nice looking and I, like yourself, would prefer the 00028 VS I think. Nice wide neck as well, how deep is the neck front to back and what sort of profile does it have.
Nice guitars, congratulations!

It has a soft v profile. I don't understand the 1st question - I don't know much about the technical side of guitars. You might find an answer on their website.
The old Sigmas were made by Martin of course, and AMI have just bought the rights to use the name. The new Sigmas are made in China then (I think) checked in Germany before being distributed.
Gamlins in Cardiff stock them sometimes, though their manager said the don't stock slotheads.

I have an Aria STD-NL parlour which I won for writing the monthly star letter to a magazine a fair few years ago. Solid spruce top, laminated mahogany sides and back, slotted headstock, 14 fret join and full 25 1/2" scale. Fitted it with a second hand (£20) bBand under saddle pickup and it has served me very well over the years. It plays easily, sounds good and the colour has aged nicely. Not bad for writing a letter, cost of a stamp and £20, eh?

That 00R-28VS looks suspiciously similar to my Recording King ROS-16, I think someone might be sharing a factory! I love mine, one thing to keep an eye on is the bridge on mine wasn't glued down properly, and I picked it up one day it find it lifted by ~4 mm... Got it repaired for £60 and it's good as new, just keep an eye on it!

Apologies philh, what I meant is the measurement when you put your thumb on the back of the neck and your finger on the fretboard ie the distance between thumb and finger. For example (and getting back to the point of your thread) I bought a Martin D15 which has such a thin neck that it's almost uncomfotable and an archtop with a very deep 'V' that is a handfull shall we say. But a soft 'V' sounds good to me.
Cheapest fun guitar for me was an Eko ranger that went from hand to hand in my group of mates and and an inexpensive Fender slotted headstock folk guitar which was good while it lasted!
Gamlins will order but it seems to take them a long time. I was interested in a Sigma acoustic bass but gave up after a couple of months waiting for them to get one in. Newport has no music shops in the town center anymore, which is shameful.

Matt - it does look like the ROS 16. I had an ROS626 once but found the V neck hurt my elbow. Although it was all solid wood, I didn't like the sound either. There's nowt wrong with my bridge by the way!
Mike - it's 5cm (just over) depth at the 2nd fret, centre of neck to where you fret it. I don't notice the V neck when I play either guitar. Absolute Guitars in Bristol stock Sigma guitars, which is not too far away. They don't have either of my guitars in stock.
