Hi Chris,
To buy a new Calton case in the UK or Europe now costs approximately £700. As they are no longer made by Keith in the UK, they now have to be imported from Texas and that brings the price up to £700 and means you have to wait five weeks for delivery.
I am not sure of their current market value, but in good condition they are probably worth what you paid for them, if not a little more.
I have five Calton Cases, so I am not in the market for one, but if I was I would bite your hand off for a good condition used Calton....
I am looking out for a giant archtop Calton case, hoping to find a used one before I run out of patience and order one from Texas. If anyone hears of one, let me know.
Sorry to hear you have been unwell. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

OMG !!!
£ 700 !!!
My first Calton case, for National guitars was back in 2003 and I'm pretty sure it cost me £ 250. My next Calton was the next size up, to be longer, to fit my longer baritone necked National - that was a year or two later, and cost £ 280, I'm pretty sure.
My third Calton case was for my Kay dreadnought acoustic (Elmore James model) - and larger than the normal dreadnought size, to accommodate the Dearmond pickups (and specifically the vol+tone control box sitting on top of the flat top). I ordered the case on 31st October 2009 - and due to a long waiting list, I finally received the case on the 2nd April 2010. The case cost me £ 308, and with shipping, cost me £ 322 in total. It was this much because I went for the super jumbo case.
So, that was 5 years ago though. I'd expect about £350-400 now (£ 450 max ?), if Keith was still making them in the UK.

I first bacame aware of Calton cases in the late 1970s from a tiny classified advert in "Frets" magazine (more like a small club newspaper than a magazine proper.)
My first two Caltons were purchased in 1980 or thereabouts, a solid electric model and one for a dreadnought. The dread was £100 and the solid was £80-ish (I think) The next was a G banjo in about 1988, but I cannot remember the price. The last Calton that I bought was for an "A" series mandolin. That was in 2003. It should have been £180 but when I collected it he charged me £130 for no better reason than the fact that I had already had three others. Keith is a gentleman and I hope he's keeping well.
I recently modified the dread one for use with a very much more expensive guitar by stripping the neck crutch and widening the slot. Unbelievably easy to do. These cases are fabulous.
Given MM's quote of about £700 and the sliding scale over time of the prices I mentioned, I would be inclined to think that your cases should fetch at least half of that. I hope they go to good (preferably working) homes and to people that appreciate what they actually are. All the best for a rapid recovery Chris.

Sorry for your health trouble and hope you are well!
The first time I played at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2009 the Canadian Calton went for US $ 500. They no longer produce Calton in Canada but those were the prices, at least at the Montreal Guitar Show. I wish I bought one... It seems that in just a few years prices are double! Instead I bought an excellent indian soft case at the Frankfurt Music Messe for 50 Euro and travel with that, even on planes. Frank

Michael, I have a case Keith made for my Aragon, I sold the guitar last year, but kept the case, it went out in it's original one... I'm not sure how I'd get it back to the UK, but before investigating that would it fit your need? It has Keith's UK address etc on the nameplate so I wouldn't anticipate agro from HMG & UK Customs. Email me...?
And Chris, I'm really sorry to hear your news, I feel for you! Where are you? I occasionally get asked for Caltons, sold a couple of used ones in the last 12 months. I'm in BC, Canada BTW.
