I have seen news that Franta Javurek of Amistar guitars has died. I had quite a few chats with him about being a distributor for amistar - he was a great chap and I love his guitars. RIP

I am shocked and saddened by this terrible news. I knew Franta was sick, but I had not heard anything for a while and assumed he was through it. My sympathy to Franta's family and friends. R.I.P. Franta Javurek ------------- Shine On Michael

In 2001 Franta, John Crabb at Resound & I, did a promotion with an Amistar Don guitar that was given away as a prize in a competition. I will dig out some photos, but here is one from a session I did with the Amistar 'King Guitar'. It was engraved on the front under the strings with my name, 'King Guitar' ...and the line from the song "The World Turns To King Guitar' '2001' .....I forget now, but I think there is something on the back too. It was really beautifully engraved. ...From Get Rhythm magazine - December 2001 The Amistar “Don” Guitar in this competition was hand-made in the Czech Republic to very high standards. These instruments are beautiful and the winner of this competition is in for a treat. An engraved personalized guitar of this quality is a real treasured possession and in years to come, will be a collectors’ item. Amistar guitars are available in the UK from Resound Distribution.
I would like to thank both Amistar & Resound for making this presentation instrument.

Amistar was a significant force in the Resonator Guitar scene, Farewell Franta & Bon Voyage.
