Having in mind going out and busking some north hll rhythm stuff I am getting one of these and planning on playing through a microcube in NYC this spring - hopefully it will be eye catching - I am going through rebel-guitars for it as I have spoken with them in the past when In was considering a cigarbox and they were kind and informative on that and he wouldn't take money from me before they came in. rebel-guitars.com/bohemian-oil-can-guitars-moonshine/See comment on the late delivery if at all from Bohemian below!Any comments from members - I think its a good match for the slide style I like, durable and portable. Here's a recent video clip of recent north hill effort - I learned the lick from Michael

Sounds great, Harriet!
I don't know anything about those oil can guitars, but they look well built. I am sure someone on the forum will know about them.

Thanks, the company has some advertising and design expertise and I hope it follows through in construction and sound. I was going to drop the idea as they are taking cash backed preorders and I am nervous to do that with a startup company so I was thrilled when I found Wesley from rebel-guitars in Alabama was selling them when they come in.

Seems like one of the keys to stopping folks on the street when busking is to have a really eye-catching guitar. Something most people have never seen before, like a steel bodied reso, oil can, cigar box etc. I sometimes sit with a really good local player and when he has his beat up, rusty '32 Duolian, a lot more folks stop than when he is playing his 30's Gibson (which is more valuable). Guitar people stop fast for the Gibson or his 50's Tele (which I happen to know is a very good fake!), but most passerby's aren't guitar folks and the Duolian is very unusual to them. Of course, once you stop them, you gotta have the playing to keep them. He definitely does and I know Harriet does too.

Well rebel-guitars emailed me today - it seems that the people who make these aren't keeping on schedule for their second shipment with no reasonable explanation!!! I'm going through a third party dealer so no expense to myself and I'll start looking elsewhere.
FEH!!!
