Hi, I guess this is mainly a question for Michael, but any other suggestions are of course welcome.
Last night, the tuner of the 5th string of my MM Blues was not working. When reaching certain resistance, the knob just jumped loose without turning the axis. I think this happens because the end of the axis is square shaped, and the hole of the knob into which it fits is also square shaped, so that it can turn the axis. But the plastic inside the knob ends up losing its original shape (I guess due to repeated tension) and rounding up a bit, so it turns around freely instead of pushing the axis. (It doesn't move free all the time, it "jumps" and then you reach resistance again, but when you twist further, it "jumps" again).
I solved it by switching the knob with the one of the 6th string. Since it supports less tension, you don't have to push it as hard, so it worked fine to tune the 6th, and the one that was in the 6th worked fine in the 5th, since I imagine the square shape is not yet deformed.
But I guess it's probably a matter of time until the problem arises again, so I'm thinking about changing the tuners. However, in order to mount new tuners I suppose I would have to drill additional holes in the guitar, and I'm not sure I like that idea. So my question is, do you know of some better quality tuners that could fit in the same place as the original ones?
Thanks.

Hi Michael,
I really like the look of those for the MM Blues. Thanks!
Mine is from 2008. Here are a couple pics

Michael,
I guess it's a dumb question, but I would need the slotted peghead model, right? Just making sure before I buy, as you posted the link to the solid head model.
Thanks.

Hi Naymi,
My apologies for not replying yesterday, but I had a busy day.
You are correct that I linked you to the wrong tuners....whoops! You need the Golden Age tuners for a slotted headstock.
They will look better and be nicer to use than the ones you have.
Let me know how you get on.
