Hi, I have spent a many months building a blog with the aim of one day creating another reference point for people interested in Resonator Guitars, Lap Steel guitars and Vintage Amps. The current blog may only be accessible for a short time as it is a work in progress. Your thoughts and ideas on how to improve the site would be greatly appreciated. The next part of the project is to add sound files of the various instruments and include them on the site. I am a ham fisted novice so progress is painfully slow. At present I am working on an appropriate name to register a site and host the page away from blogger. resonatorandlapsteelguitars.blogspot.com.au/I hope you enjoy. OLDNAT

Looks good so far to me - and I already learnt something, previously I had no idea that the early Gibson EH150s were aluminium. Looking forward to those sound files...

Any plans for schematics of amps to go with the pics? PT Looks very good, (at first I though it was going to be a site about BUILDING resonators etc.... so there is still a space for someone to start one!)

oldnat,
if you can supply me with a listing of tubes/valves in these, i might be able to scare up ~some~ of the circuit schematics for these amplifiers. also any stampings on the chassis and speaker might help with a more accurate identification.
[esp with the Gibson amps as they were notorious about switching bottles and circuit values without any notification]

Hi Pete & Mitch, I was going to and will add links to the sites where people have already done all the hard work of mapping the schematics. Most if not all vintage amps (mine) have been doctored with new caps and valves where necessary and all have been made safe. So 100% Originality of small details with old amps is an issue. When my amps need work I always have the tech skin the old caps and fit the new caps inside the old skins so at least the original look is there. Hard to better this site for vintage amp schematics:- www.classictubeamps.com/SchemGibson.htmlAnd for speaker and tubes:- www.superiormusic.com/page199.htm

I have added some sound bites for Style O, Style 1, Style 2, Style 4, Dobro D33, Dobro Fiddle edge, Dobro Lily of the Valley. I will be adding some National & Dobro amps shortly. Sorry about the sound quality I will do a better job soon.

Hi Oldnat,
Your site looks great. You are doing a good job there, we need stuff like this for reference.
I know how much work it takes to this kind of thing, back in 2000 I built the Notecannons website. That was after setting up all the instruments for the photos and spending three days scanning catalogues, logos and adverts.
Keep in touch and keep us posted with your progress.

Thanks, guys, for the great links. Still, Notecannons is my Internet heaven.
