This is a NY Times Magazine article about two significant female Blues Artists who disappeared, apparently without trace. It includes recordings and video. It's a really interesting presentation. It will take about an hour to get through it, but it's top class. Have a look and pass it on. It's really a whole new format for journalism. I look forward to reading this later when I have some time.
(I moved these two posts into the same thread as both Brad & Davey created threads about The Ballad of Geeshie and Elvie)

I got the heads up on this on FB earlier today and read / listened to it, agreed it is a fascinating article and needs the hour to digest it all.

Wow , what a great posting! Thanks Brad and Davey for bringing this up. Just listening to the tracks now. Very special indeed and more so when you piece the back story together! This was without a doubt the most interesting and intriguing article I have read/ viewed in a long time. We'll worth the time and highly recommend it to all. I agree with Davey, 'top class' and could do with more like it! We'll done to all involved.

Davey - great minds think alike! I searched before posting my version of this link, I swear I did.

Brad, so did I !
I'm interested in this kind of presentation as well as the story.
With all the new media we might perhaps take it for granted, but this has the best of "print" i.e. the ability to read it in whichever way you like, plus the video inserts when you feel like watching them and in this case the original recordings. Brilliant !

Great article, shows you can never give up searching for old stuff.

It's fascinating - there's a long discussion on the ethics behind this article over on weeniecampbell for those interested.

An article about Sullivan's article: observer.com/2014/04/the-story-behind-john-jeremiah-sullivans-times-cover-story/Sullivan's attempts to rationalize his actions seem pretty weak to me. “You can’t own somebody else’s speech,” he states, but the notion that a researcher can't claim ownership of decades of research is beyond repugnant to me. There are lots of people out there who think it is perfectly fine to steal from a wheelchair-bound old man who has recently had a stroke...if it makes for good reading. Gross.
