Michael, Some years ago you were recommending 16-59 gauge for round neck tricones. Is this still your view or do you think that 15-56’s are adequate. I’ve tried both types on mine and I can’t really tell much difference in the sound.

Hi Dave,
I like both sets on round-neck Tricones, depending on what feel I am after. 16/59s (only ever tuned in open D and open G) are great on Tricones because they really drive the cones. Most people these days use 13/56 or 15/56 and they are fine too.
What type of Tricone do you have?

Michael, It's a John Alderson mahogany Tricone Deluxe. I had it at Blues Week 2012.
