Hi whilst on my holidays to Leeds and Mrs 2-Sticks was hammering my plastic card in the new shopping centre, I visited the Martin Guitar Shop in the Corn Exchange. Tucked away in a corner was a Beltona Guitar (I think it was the Southern).
The shop man was kind enough to let me sit for ages with the guitar. i had a good twang and slide of the guitar, which I found very nice to play. It was priced at £1,600 which was more than I had, (if there is a cheaper second hand one . . .)
The man in the shop told me that the Beltona man had moved back from New Zealand to Leeds. (Possibly Steve?)
I wondered if (a) any one had experience of these (I assumed it was carbon not wood) and or experience of the older Beltona Tricones;
(b) and if the older Beltona Tricones are still around?
kind regards

I don't know if Beltona Guitars are any better than some of the newer cheaper Tricones that are available. I would imagine that this would be worth a look: www.buskerguitars.co.uk/6.html

That Beltona triplate is in a different league to the Chinese made guitars, That also looks a very good price.

Hi there !
Can you people on this forum do me a BIG favour and stop telling, when there is a nice resonator guitar for sale, in Scotland, please !!!
I went to see the Beltona, and it called to me.
True, it's nowhere near mint condition - in fact, probably the worst you should expect, considering it is only 20yrs old. Well, there is nothing terrible - no damage, no neck reset required etc. The nickel plating has been wearing off on the coverplate - and a few small chips in the plating here and there - that's all. There was a LARGE area of the treble side, side of the guitar (where it would sit on your knee) with black Gaffa taoe stuck HARD to it. Took me about an hour to get it all off. Luckily, I had a spray canister of "sticky stuff remover" - does exactly what is says on the tin !!
Was filthy inside. On the underside of the cones were written 0.06 - which I expect means the guage of the metal thickness (in inches ?). I weighed the 3 cones - 21g in total. A spare set of NRP hot rod cones I have weighed 21.5g.
Had a warmer sound than my German Silver NRP tricone. Not as loud but definitely sweeter.
I'm pleased overall. Thanks for the heads-up !!
