Lenny's a stand-up guy. No need to be concerned.

jam,
Gaucho is absolutely right about Lenny. I purchased his classic Tricone a little over a year ago. He's not great at answering email because he's so busy. I'm glad you got him on the phone. He's a great person. I'm sure you'll enjoy your Old Skool Tricone. For the price their great, and when he say's no rattles or buzzing he means it. He shipped mine to me here in China in perfect condition.
Slide On.....
Best,
Jaco

Hope you had better luck than my husband. He ordered a tri with some extras added on for around $1300 US. When he finally got the guitar--three months later, it was the wrong (cheaper) model with no add-ons. Have tried emails/phone calls and get no response. Unless you plan to visit in person, I would NOT recommend Vintage Nationals.

I had 2 experiences with him several years ago., the first one was one good where he set up my little Johnny Winter reso.
The second one was not. I wanted a republic minolian by a certain date and he convinced me to go through him and he would order it, set it up and get it to me by that date
Weeks went by of being deferred and then the last straw was I called republic guitars and they told me it had shipped the day before and would be at Lenny's in a few days.
Then I called Lenny without telling him that I had contacted republic guitars and he told me that it had arrived.
At that point I had no clue what Lenny planned to send out and in what condition and opened a case with American Express. He refunded the money.

After the first snafu--having shipped the wrong guitar, we did hear from Lenny, but only after my husband sent him an email with me posing as a potential buyer. THAT got a quick response, so when I asked about my husband's guitar he was very apologetic and said that he was awaiting a shipment but had no idea if it would contain the 14-fret cutaway ordered. Keep in mind that in the original contact with Lenny back in July he stated, "Yes, we HAVE them."-- whereas the honest reply should have been "we could order one and you may or may not get one depending on what ships." I don't think we'll ever see the guitar we paid for.

Folks, Please PM me via the forum, and update me. I know Len fairly well, visited with him only a few months ago and didn't get the impression his business was in trouble in any way. (Although I hear a rumour that Don Young/National Reso will no longer supply him with their instruments.) Once I hear from you about the state of your grievances I will be happy to phone him and 'bend his ear' as best I can!
Aloha
Colin

I've never dealt with him, but it's not the first time that customers are relating some problems concerning the economic resonator models made in China... Related on the french slide guitar forum, there was two orders which have been mixed up (shipped instead of the other one), and a model shipped instead of the ordered one with two months of delay : here's the link.On another forum, the delay of shipment also seems very long (2 months at the least): link. Lenny has been helpful to me (he always answered me in the past for different requests of information concerning some vintage guitars), but he seems to regularly have some problems with his orders & deliveries from China... By the way, his ebay profile is absolutely positive too.

Please help
has anyone heard from lenny recently.
i did a deal on what was supposed to be a 1963 Gibson Sg custom he had in...lets just say it wasn't close to what was advertised. I traded in a 1977 SG custom guitar in plus cash for it...he agreed to switch it all back, I got my guitar back 3 months after constant hassling (now with a crack around the headstock) and am still awaiting $2700 to be refunded to me. I've called every day for 3 months and had no reply until 3 weeks ago...he sent a cheque and surprise surprise it bounced.
Is he still in Santa barbera as its not far from me in LA. If someone knows him on here please get him to get in touch with me as I'm at my wits end.
please help

I count $8454 in completed scams in 6 deals alone on the Acoustic Guitar forum alone. THere are ongoing rumors of him stiffing his suppliers as well. Heartless s.o.b!
And for those who support him still: you know like a thin person who gains a lot of weight then becomes a fat person, I believe he's basically no longer whatever he might have been or currently makes himself to be.
IMHO Its time for the respected people and musicians in the sector to adjust and at least withdraw support currently and not reassure people at all that he's a "stand up guy"
