Hi all, just a quick question please.
I'd like to know if the standard tuners on the current MM blues model are now the Stewmac golden age I've read about?
I've ordered a MM blues and am waiting for it to arrive with the next batch - I was going to ask for an upgrade if needs be.
I've searched and found some info in earlier threads about this being a recommended upgrade but they are a few years old now so wondered if things had changed?

Hi Andrew,
So many owners were upgrading to the StewMacs that the decision was taken to make them standard quite a while back.
There was a price rise and the StewMacs came in at the same time which really justified much of the price rise, and you didn't have to carry out the mod yourself any more.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if this is still the case. When I e-mailed Robin a while back he said they were looking to use an alternative Chinese-made open geared tuner. Does anyone know if that is the case?

It wouldn't suprise me if the StewMac ones were made in China anyway!
Keith.

I agree, I've always assumed that they were Chinese but do have a proven track record.

Hi all,
My apologies....I have only just spotted this thread!
We had to get our own tuners, as it is not practical having to change every set when the guitars arrive in the UK.
We were unable to find the manufacturer of the StuMac tuners, which must be produced somewhere in China, but our guys over there have found us a very good alternative. So now MM Guitars are currently being fitted with very nice quality open-geared tuners that are similar to the StewMac ones.
I'll get some photos from Robin and post them on here.

Thanks Michael,
That's really helpful. I'm pretty close to ordering a lightning, I'd just love to be able to try one out first. Is there anywhere near Bristol that would have one to try?
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,
My pleasure. There are no dealers in that area, but if you do order an MM guitar from us and are not 100% happy with it, we will refund your money in full if you return the guitar to us in perfect condition. (The return postage of the guitar would be your only expense).
I hope that is helpful.
Best wishes

I have these vintage looking tuners on a Republic Miniolian(2012) and they are spectacular compared to anything they've used before. If it's the same on MM's guitars they are really good!! Looks pretty much like the StewMac ones.. Can't find a photo of them in my computer right now but they're visible in this little clip:
At around 02:15..

Everything is well explained and the camera shows both hands position very clearly. I really recommend it.
