Some interesting stuff on BBC iPlayer Southern journeys. Hour long story of Alan Lomax by Shirley Collins (lots more than a short documentary last month) And, John Mayall’s Blues Adventures from 2009, can’t seem to download this one so have not listened to it yet, don’t remember it from 2009. Pete

Pete Shirley is wonderful and her recollections of those times are just amazing. For example, Shirley and Alan were the first people outside of his local community to hear and meet Mississippi Fred McDowell. Talk about actually seeing the hen lay the golden egg! Shirley has many of those experiences to talk about. Shine On Michael

Apologies if this sounds like an ad, but if you're in the Worcester area, Dr Feelgood are playing this Thursday at the Marrs Bar. And somehow I've landed the support slot! TT

I can't seem to find any thing ,pete, could you put up a little more detail ? Southern Journeys is available on the iplayer radio app for download, not the tv version. Her book “America over the water” covers this period

A thumbs up "like" doesn't seem sufficient.
