I hear Dave King is having a party with a barbeque at his workshop in Kingsclere. They are also getting people up to play during the afternoon. I thought I might get along to try some guitars and have a shout. daveking-acoustics.com/?gclid=CLyj-ZqPw6ICFSMslAodk2At3wI think you have to contact them first, I got an invite through the mailing list. Hope the weather is better this year than last year....raining sideways it was! Still a hoot though and I'm sure this year will be the same.

I might be going if I lived closer> Just played a mate's Katrina the other evening and was mightily impressed... But it's a four-hour drive at least from Yorkshire Cheerily, Gerry C

A great time was had by all!
I met some fantastic players and Lewis Cohen. Got attacked by moths, flies etc. while playing. Managed to convince another attendee that Ukuleles aren't "awful". Job done.
Hello to Steadyrollinman (?) at least I think that's his username...
Best part of the day? Easily the game of 'National Mr&Mrs' with Stuart and Lewis (National Steel).
Worst part of the day? Getting Jimmy and Alan Carr mixed up (it's easily done ok.)
Many thanks to Dave and Bob for putting on such a great day. You wouldn't get that at T**co.

Hi Charleyhouse! Great to meet you and hear your songs yesterday. A really enjoyable afternoon - food, drink, good company and a plethora of resonator instruments. I don't know about ukes not being awful but there does seem to be some agony involved...

Shorts, sandals and a t-shirt, my Mum'll kill me if she sees that pic. Too hot to dress up smart though. Sorry Mum.
I can only put the facial expression down to the fact that I'm on antibiotics for a groin injury. Err........
Great to meet you too Marshcat, I've been wanting to hear you since Lewis told me about National Steel, lovely playing.
Keep in touch Lewis, great to see you again, it's been too long.
Keep on keeping on, looking forward, A.

Hi Adam,
What a great day, and good to meet so many great musicians too. Loved your Preachin Blues; plenty of fire. Always a pleasure to see and hear Lewis and Stuart too. Thanks to Dave and Co for putting it all on. Roll on the next one. (Do you think everyone on the forum knows about this??)

Thanks Steady,
Apologies for not remembering your real name.
Does anyone know if there are any other photos/videos of the day? It'd be nice to see all those good players er, playing.
Does anyone know the name of the chap playing the hot jazz with me in the showroom, or the spendarium as Lewis called it! He was great, I've never heard anything like it. Like Superman, he left before I got his name.
Look forward to seeing you in the future, Adam.

Hi Charleyhouse,
The hot player you mention is Richard Cox-Smith, who lives near Reading. He's invited to do a spot at the next Delta Echoes gig at the Retreat in Reading on Sept 2. He's also looking for a square-neck tricone, if anyone knows of one available - let me know, just so I can check the instrument out first... [naked self-interest rears its ugly head!).
I'll post more photos of players when I get round to it.

Just a few of the participants in the course of the sunny afternoon, with some artistic licence for the Harley + Style 4...
