Innes Sibun posted this picture on his MySpace, he says
"I was using the slide to hit the guitar in my picking hand & it shattered & sliced my thumb up good - Rock & roll baby !!!!!!!! "
I suspect Arthur Guinness was involved in this crime.
Looks like he went on to finish the set 'cos there's a similar amount of blood on his strat.

Well, if you hit a piece of wood with a glass tube that has your finger inside it, it is bound to hurt! I think there is some confusion here about the meaning of the phrase 'rock & roll' Shine On Michael

Nice blonde Tele there.
Or is it a Candy Apple Red one?
Use brass next time, maybe?

Was it not a bit of a daft thing to do? It seems a bit like belting your head of a brick wall and wondering why it hurt.
Take care

Well..............today I was doing something really dangerous: cutting a slice of bread from a crusty loaf. My mind wandered off into a song I was working on and.....I cut the tip of my left middle finger with the serrated bread knife.
Result is I cant play for a couple of days. Less blood than the first post here, but certainly more than I expected to see before I picked up the knife!

Aaah, kitchen injuries. Sharp, VERY sharp things, hot things and, usually alcohol. A winning combination.
Sharp knives are less dangerous than blunt ones and I ALWAYS wear an oven glove or use the guard when using the mandoline (AKA Japanese Finger Slicer).

Quote: I ALWAYS wear an oven glove or use the guard when using the mandoline (AKA Japanese Finger Slicer). I've tried that but find the glove really muffles the sound when I'm doing a tremolo. And if it's a Japanese Finger Slicer, I suggest you try a Gibson or an Eastwood... Cheerily, Gerry C PS My tale of woe this week involves an involuntary luge-like move down the last four of my (uncarpeted wood) attic stairs using my a**, back, lower rib-cage and left elbow as brakes. None worked. Nothing broken but have been even more codgerly than usual in movement and grump-level....

Max
a nice one! If I have a blues name it is Barry 'Steam Hammer' Reeves but I hesitate to use it.
Gerry, my sympathy for your inadvertent slide. Did Diamond Bottlenecks make it for you?
I have a lot of unaccompanied trad and my own songs to keep fresh in my mind so I've been singing those today in lie of playing anything other than a verbal fool here!
I hope to be able to play on Sunday as there is an open mic I want to go to and show off at!
Moral of my tale is knives ARE sharp and do not appreciate multitasking.

Back in my Indie gigging days, I owned a Fender Musicmaster, heavily modded. I had sprayed it orange and removed the black scratchplate.
I did a gig where half way through, I managed to snag my finger on the bridge and did a similar thing to the Tele above.
Result;- the orange guitar was permanently stained with my blood, and the respray wouldnt clean off despite all my efforts.
So I put the scratchplate back on to cover it all up.
Wonder where that guitar is now??
