I'm just wondering about the serial number on my Blues 28. There's nothing visible on the head stock the way it is on my MMB so I'm guessing it's marked on the inside of the guitar body, not that I'm going to go looking mind you! I'm curious, but not that curious.
Just wondering why it's not marked on the outside where it would be an easy identifier.

Hiya, I had an exchange of emails with Robin about the serial number on my Blues '28. He told me he wrote it on the inside in pencil and signed it, the same way that National did. I guess that means Robin has opened them all up when doing the set-up, which must have been a lot of work for him and just shows the extra value you get when you buy an MM guitar. They don't just get picked out of the wharehouse and posted to you like other guitars on the market in this price bracket.
It would be good to be able to see it: I have tried squinting through the f-holes but so far haven't spotted it. However, I don't think I would have any trouble telling it apart from other 28s (e.g. at Blues Week) because it has a Schatten fitted with a separate jack socket on the lower bout. Also, if this is the way National did it, it's good enough for me.
As an aside: mine is 007. I like the idea of James Bond knocking out a few classic blues numbers in his spare time:-). I am trying to think of some song titles that might be appropriate, without much success. I don't think anybody recorded "Shaken, not stirred blues".
Slide on, Pat

You beat me to it Meeeester Bond! I emailed Robin out of curiosity too and yes the early National Triolians were numbered inside in pencil,so Robin has done the same with these 28s. Very good point about each guitar being opened up during set up if they're signed inside and a nice touch too. I've hardly put number 011 down in the past week. Best Christmas present to self I've had in a very long time!
Ha Ha , I tried squinting through the f holes too!

Hi I just joined the forum and have also just bought my first MM lightning form eBay, can't wait for it to arrive, from reading the forum sounds as though I won't be disappointed. I have asked what the serial number is on the guitar and have been told it is B Stock OZ 10, does that sound right? Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Thanks

Hi Scotty,
Welcome to our forum.
Your MM Lightning - B STOCK OZ 10 - is part of a small shipment of my guitars that went to Australia in 2010, but due to some quality control problems in our factory at that time, the guitars were sub-standard and the distributor in Oz was unable to sell them at full price. He listed them as B Stock and sold them off at discounted prices.
If my memory is correct, the problems were mostly cosmetic, but I cannot be sure of that as I no longer have details of each guitar.
Shine On Michael

Gday Michael Cheers for that, not quite what I was hoping for but seeing I got it for a reasonable price not a drama. The guys who sold it said it plays absolutely great and I cant see any problems with it to look at. Still looking forward to getting it. Thanks Scotty
