Hey!
Sounds like a great idea, wish I could have been there!!
But I have a daughter here and she's 14 days old so I'd better stay at home..
If you do this in 2010 I'll be there!! ;D

Maybe there's a chance you have another slide guitar festival later in 2010 or in 2011... Some day it would be cool for me to meet you guys!!
Or I'll arrange something in Sweden and y'all fly over here!!? ;D

It is wonderful that Percy has got this idea off the ground. I have been talking about it for a couple of years, but just not had the time to set it up. It is also wonderful to see how many people are visiting this thread with the intention of coming on the 23rd January. I only have one request regarding this thread - Please could we keep our personal social chatting off the public forum. Anyone visiting this thread looking for information or asking a question about the event has to trawl through quite a lot of personal chat to get to the end of the thread. It is fantastic that we have created a community and that friendships are developing because of the forum, but......please keep personal chat to PMs and emails, not on the public forum. I hate having to write this message, but Percy needs this event to succeed or it will cost him money. So please do chat, but not on the public forum. Between 300 & 500 people visit this forum and read our threads every day. They want to read about guitars & music! (I have just deleted the posts that were not relevant to the event) Thanks Shine On Michael

Hi Percy, Is this open to non-players? Bill

Hi Bill, It certainly is open to non players. Everyone is welcome.
The event is open to all, and players of every level. Everyone should be able to get a lot out of the day and have some fun too.
The open mic sessions should be great and are limited only by the amount of time available. We all come from diverse musical backgrounds and so they should be hugely varied. The lecture from Ian McWee will have musical accompaniment from Steve Thompson. Of course you are also welcome to just attend the evening concert if you wish.
I am very pleased to add that we now have Mark Makin on board too.
I hope we see you there. Though there is a good chance that by the 2nd British Slide Guitar Festival you won't be a non player anymore.
Cheers Percy

Hi Bill,
You would be very welcome. We would love you to come, even if just for the evening concert.
I certainly hope we get a good number of non-players. This event is drawing on players and forum members to get it off the ground, but it is certainly not just for players. It is a slide guitar event, for everyone to enjoy.
Shine On Michael.

Hi All, I have Stop press News! The highly esteemed Mr. Mark Makin has agreed to come along for a 'face to face' with Michael. A 'face to face' with two of the world's foremost experts on instruments made by National, Dobro, Supro & Valco. Someone else will have to be guarding the door when that is on, I am certainly not going to miss that one! Here is the new flyer Please note that the schedule has been re organised and the buffet has been dropped. In the vicinity there are plenty of take aways, which supply food of many nations, several cafes and a 3 star restaurant about 500yds up the road and a chip shop that does pukka pies in the other direction! Of course the Red Lion does bar meals and has a full dining room menu. For those who have already paid and for whom the buffet was a main attraction I will happily buy you a pie and a pint. Cheers Perce

Hi WBChris
That is a very kind thought.
I am hiring the PA which we will be using from 'Music Machine' - ‘music for the community’. As I put in my blurb above about the raffle, They are an open access project which in conjunction with the Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church provide instruction and support as well as access to instruments in the B33,36 & 37 postcodes. It is a project well worth supporting, which our own MaxxEngland plays a very enthusiastic part in.
Knowing what they can and will do with the little cash that I am able to put their way, makes me happy to pay them.
I do hope that the raffle will be generously supported. Even if you don't win it will give a warm rosy glow to all the punters who buy a ticket. Just like the old Weetabix advert!
Will you be bringing the washboard?
Cheers Perce
