I should probably be wise and listen to Michael and not sell this stunning beauty but, having had a while to ruminate over it, I'm going to regretfully go ahead in order to make room for new guitars on order. Purchased new last year, I thought it would be a keeper but I don't play it nearly as much as my 12 fret guitars which makes me feel it deserves to find a new home where it will be appreciated! I'm in South Bucks. Buyer would be welcome to collect or I'd be happy to post it within the U.K or overseas (though I will need to find a suitable, safe box for such a journey.) Please feel free to fire any questions my way, I'd be happy to help. I'm putting it up for £1550, National Case and paperwork included.

Bumping this with a new price. I've had a couple of offers in this region but nobody has made a firm deal yet due to collection logistics/distance. £1550 firm (collected, or plus P&P) for a quick sale which is an absolute bargain for this beauty! Last chance before it heads off to other sales sites next week.

If my car hadn't just (terminally) failed its MOT, I'd be at this like a shot, Kris - and I'm just up the road from you in Bedfordshire. Unfortunately, I've got to buy a new car. Bummer. Good luck with your sale - I can't see it hanging around too long. Absolute bargain.

It is a nice guitar and would be very tempting to me if it was a twelve fret.
I am curious, do you know why there are no screws in the hand rest?

Through the late '90's & early 2000's, National didn't necessarily use a cover plate with removable hand rest, and some guitars did not have adjustable truss rods (but a truss rod was in place just the same). I think National also wanted to make a 14-fret Duolian with proper rolled f-holes & maybe the hand rest is the right one for an early Duolian as well. Just saying 'maybe'.... Gorgeous guitar!

It must just be for the vintage looks, I was thinking it might be something to do with the painting process.

I will keep eBay in mind, thanks for the tip!

Sorry Kris--didn't spot you'd edited your original post. Silly old me. If it doesn't sell for your asking price I'll eat my panama hat.

It is a nice guitar and would be very tempting to me if it was a twelve fret. I am curious, do you know why there are no screws in the hand rest? You got me curious too! Looking at the various Rik guitars they all seem to lack them so I can only imagine it’s part of the painting process?

I think it's to preserve the 1930s look. Duco finish (wonderful job) with handrest screws, which is a modern feauture, would have been looking strange at least Again, a wonderful guitar!
