Hello Everyone,
Thank you for looking. I am new to this so please bear with me while I tell you our history.
First of all I will tell you the story of this guitar and a little bit about me and my dad who owned the guitar.
2018 was not a good year for me. I lost my dad, my husband passed away suddenly never having been ill and I was diagnosed with cancer for the 2nd time and went through all the treatment and hopefully have came out the other side.
Now that I feel better I decided to have a clear out and make things easier for anyone who had to eventually clear up after me.
I found this guitar in the loft and it brought back so many memories for me.
My father worked in the shipyard as a boilermaker here in Northern Ireland and bought this guitar from a USA seaman who had came in on a ship that was docked for repair. Not sure if it was Navy personnel or a merchant ship.
The guitar saw many family parties and nights at home with me and my mum.
It was played as a Hawaiian and a normal guitar. I remember singing along while my father played.
In 1971 we moved house from Belfast to the suburbs due to the troubles/riots/unrest here in Northern Ireland and the guitar was put in the loft in the new house and didn't see the light of day until I brought it down last week.
I was interested in it's history so put a post on Michael's forum and know know more about the guitar.
I have been advised it was manufactured around 1937 by the National Musical Instrument Company and that in a restored state it would be worth around £3500.
In it's current state I have been advised this guitar is worth around £1500.00, but I would be happy to accept a sensible offer.
Thanks Ellie

Well, I bought this guitar from Ellie in January. Michael gave me some invaluable advice about what to do next, and I sent it to Michael Lewis in France for sorting out. I went to pick it up this week - and have picked up what is now a wonderful sounding great playing guitar. It needed a neck reset and plane; new tuners and it now has a Fine Resophonic cone as the old one was split and beyond recovery. Mike was great, and it turned out that before he left for France we lived in the same town in the East Midlands - within a mile or so of each other! He was kind enough to show me his collection of vintage nationals (including a Don - wow!) and some of his own guitars. It was a day I won't forget in a hurry. I don't know whether I can attach a photo - but will try..... Andrew Attachments:

Well done uatro, same year and model as the guitar I helped bring back to life! ( charity shop duolian). Michael and fellow forum member helped immensely with advice and encouragement. Nice guitars aren't they? More pics and serial numbers please!
Best wishes to you all, John

Mike Lewis is indeed a master of all things resophonic and his restoration work is among the finest I have ever seen. I am sure Ellie would be very happy to know that her father's guitar has been lovingly restored to its former glory and is now in the safest of hands. I like stories with happy endings. I have attached the photo you posted. Enjoy your beautiful new guitar! Shine On Michael
