Does anyone have a good source for NRP Hot Rod cones in the UK? I ordered one from Thomann (along with some other bits) and it arrived like this:
It was loose in a big box with a washboard I've got my wife for Christmas. I think those dents match nicely with the washboard grooves...….
I returned that and the replacement arrived looking like this:
This one came in it's own box but the box was next to useless and it had minimal packaging.
All I want is a cone in new condition.

WOW that's bad! I thought Thoman were experienced in handling musical equipment. Kristo, a new washboard for the missus at Christmas, and they say romance is dead! Lol!
Best wishes to you all, John

Hi Kristo, give them a call! Their custom service is top notch, they will even pay for the return. Had a problem a year ago with a microphone wireless "no brand" system, and asked to swap for a Shure, no problem.

The first one they paid for the return and replaced, and I am in the process of sending the second one back.
I just can't handle seeing another one turn up ruined. :-(

This reminds me of the first time I ordered a cone from OMI Dobro in the early 1980s. It was mailed across the world to me in an envelope with some corrugated cardboard around it. When I called them (having booked a person to person international call) they were surprised it was damaged! They sent another in a proper box with padding. It was fine.
As far as I know, there are no UK suppliers of NRP cones, so your best bet is to order direct from NRP.

The NRP shipping box is a pizza box inside a much larger cardboard box, surrounded by bubble wrap. Have ordered 3 in the past & received each in perfect condition. StewMac Replogle cones also come very well packed.

The reason I don't sell cones in the MM Guitars business is because of the packaging problems. The best ever were the boxes made by a UK cone making company called Delta Resonators. Their cones never quite came up to the mark, but their shipping boxes were the best anyone has ever come up with. They were like a shipping box for a hat and they were brilliant.

I've used biscuit tins and bubble-wrap successfully in the past. Heavy, expensive to post but bullet-proof. Christmas time is a good opportunity to acquire a few for future use...

A few years ago in two different occasions I bought two hot rod cones from NRP. They arrived safely but they were in a cardboard pizza box!!! Not safe at all! Sorry about that, Kristo...
