Hi everyone,
I have just set up the forum to be AD FREE (those guitar shop ads at the top of the page) for one month. It is really just a test to see how it goes and to stop guitar dealers and other businesses from using our forum as a place to advertize their products.
The forum will only appear AD FREE to members. Visitors/guests will still see the adverts.
I hope you all approve of this decision?
Thanks,
Shine On, Michael.

There used to be some pretty bizarre stuff up there, given that it was supposed to be aimed at guitar players. You get my vote, Michael.

Hi Pete & Robn, Robn, you are lucky you didn't notice them! They started to really annoy me, especially the way they react to trigger words. We see enough advertizing every day. I feel like a grumpy old slide player ;D Have a good weekend - let's hope we get some sunshine Shine On, Michael

Looks cleaner without the ads, I don't think they appear when I'm not logged in

I'm with you regarding ads Michael, I tend to video stuff on the telly so I can zip through the ads. However they did provide some interesting links when I was looking for a tricone - don't know what porn has to with resonators though. It does make the site look cleaner, although it's already the best looking forum of its type, and if you do want to look at the ads - just don't log in.

Thanks Bill & Alan, yes I much prefer it without the ads. I too have found some interesting sites via those ads, but I can live without them.

Once I found a nice, free guitar tuner software through such ads. Other than that, my attitude to them goes from neutral to negative.
I understand that keeping up a web site and forum is not free. Therefore, many site owners are just trying to cover the costs by using Google's advert services or like. I have nothing against that. But I do have a low threshold towards popups and flying adverts. I hate them!

I have paid for this forum to be an AD FREE ZONE, but we've still got the ads. I don't think I'll bother again Shine On, Michael
