Amazing! It is a used/secondhand MM BLUES guitar being sold for a lot more than the owner paid for it. There is no information about its age, serial number, or condition. It is different to today's MMBs, but these are still being made. It is not a vintage instrument and it has no provenance. The unbound fretboard shows that it is quite an early one, not that being early will add to its value. It has also been stripped of its original finish, which in my opinion lowers its value. Why the seller thinks they can get a higher price than a brand new one is anybody's guess. It's a very nice MMB, but it is overpriced.

I well recall a school friend back in the 1970s putting his inheritance down as deposit on a Morgan motorcar. When queried, he pointed out that second hand was more expensive than new ones due to the several years waiting list for new ones. He sold his new Morgan when his waiting time was up and with the predicted profit, paid for his emigration ticket to the USA. What's the supply situation on new MMBs? ;<D

There is no problem with stock at present, so I don't think that is the seller's reasoning.
I am generally very supportive of people selling used MM guitars. I have helped sellers value their guitar, advised about wording an advert and sent owner's manuals, but not this one.
In wish them luck with their sale.

It's described as brass but looks like steel. I saw it a week or so ago and thought whoever was selling it was an idiot! They obviously don't know what they're talking about, other than saying it's a great sounding guitar. Michael,as we all know, you stand 100% by your guitars but this seller must be taking the Mick! Best wishes to you all, John

The reason I know it is an early one is because of the unbound fretboard.
The detail given about the F holes is incorrect, rolled F holes have always been on 14 fret MM BLUES bodies.
The brass body and the weird so-called aged effect is something that only happened on a handful of MM guitars in the early days, most likely 2009/2010.
An item is worth what the seller can get for it. If it sells for £620, that is £11 more than I sell brand new ones for. Hmmmm ....interesting.

Hello I have a Blues with the above serial number. It's made of brass and has rolled edges to the F holes. It has a distressed finish. Is it a prototype?

Hello Damflask,
Welcome to our forum.
I am sure you have seen our discussion about your eBay sale.
MMB0006 08 - is from the second batch of MM guitars to arrive in the UK, I believe in 2009, not 2008. In early 2009 due to customer demand I launched the 14 fret MM Blues. The first 16 or 24 arrived as part of a large batch of MM guitars. There had been a couple of brass 12 fret MM Blues in the 2008 shipment, and this happened again in the early 2009 shipment. The factory used to like to send me everything, even ones with faults. At first, the way they dealt with that was to send so-called aged finish guitars. Also, they sent me a few brass bodied MM Blues and a few steel bodied MM Lightnings. These were not to my taste and I soon put a stop to receiving anything other than perfect MM Guitars. It has been that way ever since.
Any MM Blues that is made of brass, or any MM Lightning that is made of steel, or any MM guitar that has a factory-done so-called aged finish, were not built to my specifications.
There have never been any 14 fret brass bodied MM Guitars, apart from one that I had custom built for a friend. This guitar, a seven string brass bodied MM Style 0, is now owned by forum member, Bonzo.
Sorry to disappoint you, but your guitar is not a prototype or a test model. As a brass bodied MM Blues, it is a rare guitar, but it is essentially a mistake. There should never have been any brass bodied MM Blues guitars.
Just to correct your details...
The rolled F holes are correct for a 14 fret MM Blues. All 14 fret MMBs have rolled F holes. Flat cut F holes only ever appear on 12 fret guitars.
I am not 100% sure, but I believe the serial number date 08 is wrong. This guitar is in fact a 2009 model.
If you think those anomalies make your guitar worth more than a new MM Blues, I disagree, how can it be valued like that, but I wish you luck with your sale.
The unbound fretboard and nato neck show me that it is an early 14 fret MMB. Soon after that time all 14 fret MMBs had bound fretboards.

Hi Damflask,
My pleasure.
If my memory is correct, forum member, Stevie, has a brass bodied 12 fret MM Blues. Yours and Stevie's are almost unique, there may be another of each out there somewhere.
Enjoy your guitar and enjoy your day :-)
