Thanks Michael, Kiwi,
I took off the tuners last night cleaned them up, two more had burrs and debris in the hole. Much better feeling and staying in tune much better.
I was able to clean up the saddle and lower the action a bit and am purty darned happy with the guitar now. It ain't broke, so I ain't gonna break it ( like I used to do with motorcycles and bones )
Truth is, these are things I would have not attempted myself but for this forum. Many Thanks All !
Michael, all, if you read this I'm wondering about a guitar player ' Charles Macey'. He's listed as a Hawaiian guitar player on. Leon Redbone record I have and on the web there is a player listed at guitarist with Sam Cook along with some other obscure stuff along with the Redbone work. I'd never heard of him...
All best, Jeff

Hi Jeff,
That's good news about the guitar and I agree that if it's not broken....
Regarding Charles Macey; I too have had a look around on the Internet and we are not the only people that have not heard of the lap steel/Hawaiian guitarist, Charles Macey. I have a suspicion that Charles Macey may be a pseudonym.

Ahhhh... I didn't consider that as a possibility. Considering that Leon was a Warner signee it sure does make sense. Thanks.

Hi! A little after the fact I realise but in case any one picks up on this thread looking for similar advice I would suggest as an alternative looking at Gotoh slot head tuners. I have two guitars fitted with different styles of Gotohs and both types work well and look the part too.
